Mathsya, Egmore
This is a vegetarian’s delight and stays open till wee hours in the morning, as late as 2 am. Compared to the other joints, Mathsya is probably the most family and women friendly with a mix of family crowd, late night movie goers and pub hoppers. It serves crispy dosa, fluffy idlis, piping hot sambhar and even great chapatti and paneer butter masala, middle of the night. Slurp!
Buhari, Mount Road
It is one of the oldest joints in the city and serves delicious non-vegetarian cuisine. While on weekdays, it remains open till about 1 am, on weekends it extends upto 2 am. Buhari is one of the most iconic of all the late night joints since it opened in 1951. They serve out of the world biriyani, chicken 65 and tandoori chicken at night! Go for it!
Midnight Express, Alwarpet
As the name suggests, this place is meant to be a late-night option in the middle of the plush Alwarpet area. While the restaurant shuts at 1 am, takeaway option is open later than that. Known for its Chettinad curries, Midnight Express is popular for its half boiled eggs. They have a midnight special chicken roast apart from their chicken, mutton and egg biryanis.
Nightu Foodie, Nandanam
Again the name itself is a clear indicator. This eatery located in Nandanam area stays open till 7 am, yes you heard it right! It was started with the idea of serving delicious food late at night by a team of professional from one of the top class luxury hotel and stays true to its word. Do try their grilled chicken, fish tikkas, egg masala and kadai paneer.
Twilight Takeaway, Nungambakkam
You have been partying hard through the night and looking out for options to fill your belly. All the food you could crave for is right here; be it Chinese, Continental or Indian. The place is known for non-vegetarian delights like biriyani, tikkas, tandoori chicken and a super filling club sandwich.
