Food trucks have been hugely popular concept in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Delhi. Now they are making their presence felt in Chennai. After huge popularity of the Karam food truck on Velachery 100 feet Road, a new truck is gaining immense popularity among foodies in town. This one is located in close proximity of the beach along with carts selling bhajjis and soda towards the left from the police station, if you are coming from the New Beach Road. It will not be difficult to find, considering the crowd it has been attracting!
The black food truck with bright, colourful graffiti has a cheerful vibe to it. Also, there is music to add further to your mood. Chaska, the food truck is a great place to savour delicious Tibetan food (considering there are not many places that serve the popular cuisine in Chennai!). The truck is parked from 4 pm till about 10 pm.
Be prepared to stand in queue to get your hands on your favourite dish. You can choose from a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian momos, noodles, rice and plenty of side dishes. The truck is owned and managed by a hardcore foodie, Rakesh Raj, who prefers to be called Rikki. He is present to strike a conversation with customers and make interesting suggestions. It is friendly nature that has also gone down well with city food lovers. The truck has a three-member cooking team, who are constantly churning out orders by the dozen.
Most of the dishes are prepared street-style and are spicy and hot, as one would expect them to be. The truck is earning rave reviews for the quantity and quality of food offered. Go check it out, this weekend!
