Over the last few years Chennai has grown much more fashion-conscious than it ever was. Big international fashion labels have been slowly and steadily making their presence felt in the city. H&M and Gap have been the latest entrants. Top designers have been showcasing their collection at the multiple fashion weeks that the city now hosts. Women have great options to choose from – be it pret or couture. But actually, it’s not just them. Even men in Chennai can look forward to a fashionable 2017. Exclusive brands, collection and boutiques are being launched for men to put their most stylish foot forward.

Bengaluru-based brand Rare Rabbit, that recently set up shop at Express Avenue intends to take men’s dressing to another level. The store stocks up on apparels, ceramic accessories, eye-wear, timepieces and art; all for men. Most of their products are designed and developed across Europe. Fabric is sourced from Italy and other European countries. Interestingly, unlike other brands showcasing logo at prominent places, Rare Rabbit has its branding engraved on/below the collar of shirts, contrast lining inside, collarbones or metal button on the sleeves. Though priced on the slightly higher side, the cuts, colour and designing is top class.

On Sunday, an exclusive boutique for men called Coax Couture was exclusively launched by actor Vincent Asokan. They intend to create clothes that display the work of craftsmen from across the country. Even the fabrics are sourced from different parts of India. You can get designer suits, classic suits, Indo – western, bandhgalas, jackets, bandi, kurtas, designer shirts and trousers tailored to your needs.

Men’s fashion and accessories brand, Tailorman kickstarted 2017 with the launch of its wedding and party wear collection with House of Three’s Sounak Sen Barat at their Chennai store on TTK Road, Alwarpet. According to the brand, Chennai is an important market, with the growth of demand for couture and bespoke wear. The new celebration-wear collection is for that discerning man who looks for freshness but within his comfort zone, it is for today’s modern Indian who is essentially a global citizen with roots that are Indian. Owing to this, the collection will be a composite of tuxedos, suits, bandhgalas, Nehru jackets, achkans, kurtas, pathanis and breeches that are high on style and relevance.
