It’s raining pubs in Chennai and the newest kid-on-the-block is situated opposite Hoppipola. Quite interestingly named Off The Record, the place has already gained a huge fan following. It is the latest project of popular brand consultant, Arasu Denis, who is associated with some the best stand-alone pubs in the city. The 250-seater, plush two-storeyed bar has beautiful artsy décor including Frida Kahlo’s black and white prints on the wall. The first floor has an urban bar feel to it with black and red-themed interiors and pop paintings and the second floor is meant more for absolute party lovers.

Off The Record has a smashing whiskey menu-a pure novelty in Chennai. They even offer the much in-vogue Japanese whiskey varieties. It has a range of single and rare blends. Once you go through the whiskey section of the bar menu, you will be pretty surprised at the myriad options. The pub also offers delicious tropical cocktails, priced mostly around INR 400, with some cool retro music from the 80s playing the background. We would suggest Mai Mai (rum-based), Joker (tequila-based) and Long Island Iced Tea from their long list of cocktails.

The pub also has an interesting food menu. From beer batter fried calamari, blue cheese dumpling with broccoli, chilli cheese bhajjis with green mayo, dhokla served with chicken and jalapeno to Oriental Bhel, Sumatran beef on sticky rice, fish katsu, bao varieties – they have a lot going on.

They also have a pastel-themed outdoor section meant for pleasant evening soirees with a separate food menu.
