The city has been steadily getting its fair share of Pan-Asian eateries over the last couple of years owing to the increasing expat population and the newly-discovered love for the cuisine among Chennaiites. While the city might have quite a few stand-alone options, there are dearth of options in Pan-Asian fine dining. The newly-launched Ramada Plaza, a five-star property in Guindy, has come up with a great Pan-Asian offering. Perfecting the art of Asian cuisine, Scallion-Soul Food Studio intends to provide an exotic world, where one can find blend of authentic Asian cooking with an assortment of light, space, symmetry and colours.

As we entered this plush restaurant with beige interiors, great lighting and comfortable seating, the friendly staff ushered us in for our lavish four-course spread. We started our meal with a flavourful and rich Tom Kha soup with Thai ginger, moved on to crispy chicken tossed in homemade roasted chilli paste, wok flashed Thai garlic pepper prawns and grilled mushroom with burnt chilli and tamarind marinade. The main course constituted of minced chicken with chilly, garlic and basil; lamb with peppercorns and herbs; tofu with exotic mushrooms along with Thai jasmine fried rice and Indonesian bamee goring with vegetables. In addition, we couldn’t resist steamed red snapper with noc cham sauce as well. We finished the meal with water chestnuts rubies and longan in coconut milk.

Cordial service with great cooking using plush ingredients like galangal, lemongrass, kafir lime leaves, rare varieties of mushroom and noodles will make you feel ecstatic. The restaurant uses a range of homemade sauces and paste for cooking, making it fresh and authentic from scratch. The delicious and bold flavours will go down well with fans of Asian cuisine.

The restaurant’s main executive chef Santhosh comes with more than a decade of experience and has been responsible for launching Pan-Asian restaurants in premium hotel properties across India.

Do try out their exhaustive spread over lunch or dinner.
