On a rainy weekday evening, we were pleasantly surprised to find a huge vegetarian, quirky dining outlet at the plush Harley’s Road in Kilpauk. The name Pink Potato immediately caught our attention and we decided to step in. The vibrant pink and quirky décor set the mood. And thus, began our tryst with this cool, new vegetarian eatery in town.

Pink Potato intends to break into the vegetarian fusion market. The menu offers a mish-mash of continental, north and south Indian cuisines. It is curated by Consultant Chef Fabian who has cooked for several A-listers including the Queen of England.

As you scan the menu, the waiters serve a complimentary pink potato in a small bowl. They are essentially small cubes of fried potato mixed with beetroot mayonnaise and topped with thinly sliced spring onion. We had the idli skewers and nadru ki shammi. The podi mini idli served along with grilled tomato on skewer and ginger chutney and the latter is lotus stem shammi kebab prepared with special spices were sensational. Also, do try their soya chop malai tikka and achari paneer tikka. The sizzler variety at Pink Potato is quite fascinating. They have options like Bharwan Mirchi or Broccoli Schezuan in the category. The portion sizes are pretty decent and they taste yum!

If you love good North Indian meal, opt for their Amritsari Kulcha, Zaffrani Malai Paneer Kali Mirch and round off the meal with some Punjabi lassi. With some fine North Indian chefs working in the kitchen, we bet you won’t be disappointed.

In case, you still have space and have a major sweet tooth do give a shot to Chocolate Opera Cake, highly sinful or some good old desi shahi phirni.
