For years now, most of us have associated Thiruvanmyur beach with the popular Italian eatery, Bella Ciao. We have some great news, guys! Right next to it, we have a new beach café, SaltWater Cafe. It is housed in a lovely archaic bungalow and is well-decorated with artifacts, paintings and pop-culture references. From the terrace seating, the shoreline is visible and provides a lovely backdrop. The café serves delicious American and Mexican food. SaltWater Café is a joint venture of two friends – Vishwa Mouli and Periannan.

Over a round of coffee, cheesecake and nachos, Vishwa tells us that he has worked with prominent hotel properties in India and abroad for quite a few years. But he wanted to start a venture of his own over the last three years. He happened to mention this to his close friend Periannan, an engineer and MBA. Luckily, the latter had a beach house on Kottivakkam and was looking out for an effective means to utilise the beautiful property. After this, things fell in place and the café started its operations about 3 months ago.

The beach café has spacious seating spread across two floors with sea-facing options.

The menu has popular fare like homemade nachos with vegetarian and non-vegetarian toppings, quesadillas, tortilla, burrito bowls and taco bars to pizzas, waffles, sandwiches, pastas and burgers.

They also serve specialties like Barbequed Pork Ribs, Beef Wellington, Philadelphia Melting Cheese Steak, Hawker Style Fish n Chips, Hot and Spicy Roasted Chicken and Seafood Jambalya. For light eaters, there is a range of salads and soups.

The dessert section offers New York Cheesecake, Walnut Brownie, White Chocolate Mango Gateau and Vanilla Pannacotta.

SaltWater Café is open to corporate and private party bookings.
