Remember watching all those Hollywood flicks, where you would see the lead characters skating effortlessly in the rinks and wishing you had a choice out here in namma Chennai? The fact that skateboarding has been inducted as an Olympic sport and will make its debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics is good enough reason to start promoting the sport. Well, here is some good news, if you have been looking out for an opportunity to hone your skateboarding skills! Chennai has got its first exclusive Skatepark, Madras Wheelers along the OMR stretch in Thoraipakkam.

Madras Wheelers is built for street style skateboarding with obstacles like curbs, quarter pipes, rails and ledges, that intend to mirror the obstructions one might face on the streets of a city. With a nearly 2000 sq. feet space, the park is meant primarily for skateboarding. But it also caters to sports such as BMX, roller and in-line skating and kick-scooters for kids. At a point in time, the skatepark can accommodate 30 skaters. There are also benches placed along the arena for all those who wish to see skateboarding and pick up a few skills along the way.

The skatepark is built on a property, owned by Sai Krishna Tej Reddy who started this space in collaboration with HolyStoked Collective from Bengaluru. Abhishek, Anish Christopher Kevin and Ravi Kumar Reddy from HolyStoked have helped put this place together.

You can hire equipment and gear, get training sessions or skate with your own gear at Madras Wheelers.
