Want to have a good laugh? These places in Chennai have regular stand-up comedy acts. Keep an eye out on their calendar of events!

Bay 146, Savera Hotel, RK Salai (Every Sunday)

Sunday nights have always been fun at Bay 146. It is the only pub in town with a proper ‘mainstage’ and it utilizes it to the core with some great music and stand-up comedy gigs. The latter is a regular fixture on Sundaynights, just right to fight-off impending Monday glues. It is the longest standing show venue with gigs being carried out by Burma Bazaar Conspiracy, followed by Chennai Comedy and now the Evam Stanndup Tamasha. With a new cocktail menu, delicious grub and great serving staff, this is perfect place to catch up with friends.

 Backyard Chennai, Adyar (Third Saturday)

This cool anti-café has been making a dent in social circuit of the city with its unique activities and classy gigs. It hosts stand-up comedy nights on third Saturday of every month and needless to say, the place gets a good crowd. It hosts the all-inclusive open mics on the first-floor space, that is used for performances. The chill co-working space and anti-café has had some great shows put up since the time it launched in February 2017. Check it out!

The English Tearoom, Kasturi Rangan Street, Alwarpet (4th Saturday)

Care about the setting as you enjoy some kickass comedy? The English Tearoom, with its luxurious ambience, great variety of tea and a lip-smacking high-tea menu, is perfect for a nice evening. It has a separated gallery space set within the café, which is known as the Peach Tree Hall. It serves as a performance space as well as a hall that can be rented for tea parties. Post the success of the first comedy show, they broke the partition wall that runs down from the middle of the gallery in order to accommodate more guests. As you can gauge, the place gets a decent footfall and is quite packed on comedy night Saturdays.

Urban Desi House, Thoraipakkam (Every Tuesday)

Quirky wall art and pop culture sets the tone of this cafe to a fun and happy place to just chill. And when you have Chennai Comedy performing live on every Tuesday, it becomes the perfect place to unwind with friends post work. Located in the IT corridor, this new place has been attracting a lot of techies and the open mic nights are a huge hit among them. Apart from comedy, if you have a flair for singing or dancing, you are welcome to showcase your talent in front of the appreciative crowd. The performances take place in the first floor.

Ashvita Bistro, Alwarpet (Every Thursday)

Gear up for a fun night where upcoming comedians and popular comics of Chennai perform and entertain the audience at the Stand-Up Comedy Open Mic Night by Evam Standup Tamasha called Mic Testing. Ashvita Bistro encourages new comics to try their content and popular comics to try new material with varying audiences every time. Infact, they were one of the first places in Chennai to host stand-up comedy gigs way back in 2014. At that time, it was conducted by Burma Bazaar Conspiracy. After a hiatus of two years, they open mic nights are here to tickle your funny bones.

The Velveteen Rabbit-Lounge Bar, RA Puram

This neighbourhood bar, in place of the much-loved La Amandier, has become a giant favorite among revelers in a short span of time. This place has been hosting regular music gigs every week and is now taking up stand-up comedy shows as well. This Tuesday they will have the comedy duo Vikram and Soda! Keep an eye for their roster. They still don’t have a fixed day for comedy nights.
