The beer-lovers in the city are in for some real treat. They can try out numerous German beer varieties this month. It is time to ring in Oktoberfest celebrations. Hyatt Regency recently announced its Oktoberfest.
If you are not familiar with the idea of Oktoberfest, it is the world’s largest beer festival held annually in Munich, Germany. The 16-day party attracts over 6 million people every year who consume 1.5 million gallons of beer, 200,000 pairs of pork sausage, and 480,000 spit-roasted chickens during the two-week extravaganza. It started in 1810 to celebrate the October 12 marriage of Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig to the Saxon-Hildburghausen Princess Therese. The citizens of Munich were invited to join in the festivities which were held over five days on the fields in front of the city gates.
While Munich knows how to have fun, Madras surely does not lag far behind. Over the last few years, Oktoberfest comes to Chennai with a variety of German brews and of course, traditional Bavarian delicacies like soft pretzels, sauerkraut, bratwurst sausage and much more as the Oktoberfest celebrations kick start with a bang.
Last year all the popular star hotels had the best of German beers, sausages and delicious sides. Hyatt Regency, Park Hyatt and Hilton Chennai were some of the great options to enjoy the Bavarian fest. This year also Hyatt Regency has already announced its Oktoberfest dates that will be held from September 17 to October 3. We are all ears for the other places that plan to bring in beer options for parched souls.
