With so many parents today focused on getting their children to stay ahead in the academic rat race, they often forget to stop and encourage kids to develop life-skills. We are wary of letting them take risks and to allow them to spend time in activities that may not have a direct impact on their future.

A group of young mothers in the city have decided to encourage their children to explore entrepreneurial opportunities and inculcate a desire in their children to share the fruits of their labour with less fortunate counterparts.

Hop on over this Sunday (November 12) to the The Little Market, a charity sale for kids and by the kids, at the Luz House in Mylapore.  The event is organised by the Madras Midtown Ladies Circle 7 (MMLC7), which is a part of Ladies Circle International (LCI).

The Little Market is an annual fundraiser and all proceeds raised through this event will go towards educating underprivileged children and building classrooms for them. The theme for this year is ‘Little Hands Large Hearts’. The platform will provide an ecosystem where they turn entrepreneurs and raise money for a good cause.

This year there will be 25 stalls, locked down by enthusiastic groups of children showcasing art and craft items, baked goodies, home-made sauces, jewellery, healthy snack options and paintings. They also have kids from Swabodhini, a school for special children, and Shishu Shakti, an NGO, participating; making this a holistic marketplace.

Kidspreneur, the title sponsor, is an outfit that aims to make entrepreneurship accessible to kids by engaging them in workshops that focus on entrepreneurial skills and self-awareness through focussed programs, events, competitions and mentoring. The effort is also supported by SVGS school and Indian Terrain boy.

The MMLC7 team welcomes children interested in volunteering to join the entrepreneurial team.
