The Watson’s Pub has become the latest haunt of revelers in town. It has managed to strike a chord with the party people of Chennai since they have giant space, offer delicious food and heady cocktails. Now, they have gone ahead and given us another reason to visit the place. The pub has introduced a boozy brunch for Sundays, that will be offered from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm. You can have unlimited alcohol and food for INR 2,250. If you are particular about consuming only imported liquor, you will have to shell out INR 3,000. The starter section has loads of seafood including crabs, mussels, clams and oysters.
While the spread might not be as large as many star-properties in the city offer, they do offer a lot many exotic items on the menu. The seafood section requires particular attention since it offers giant prawns, crabs, oysters, mussels and clams. You need to try out their salmon rolls, they are absolutely brilliant. They also offer rabbit and beef meat. In addition, do try out their chicken sausages and mutton seekh kebabs. For the veggies, there is cottage cheese shasliks, mushroom croquettes and mozzarella cheese sticks. They also have a live counter that prepares crisp dosas with fish, mix veggie or chicken curry. Do also check out their pasta counter. We tried out their simple red sauce vegetarian pasta and quite liked it. Along with these, there will be steady supply of Coronas, Kingfisher or Cosmos and Mojitos, depending on your choice of poison.
For the main course, you can opt for one vegetarian or non-vegetarian dish from three options each – which include continental, Indian and Italian. However, if you have had multiple helpings of appetizers like us, you might end up skipping it altogether.
But what you should not miss is their dessert section. There are local desserts like payasam and then a whole range of puddings, mousse, cakes and pastries. After gorging on meat and seafood, they will offer the much-needed respite to the palate. We loved their chocolate mousse and caramel cake.
