If you are looking out for places that have high aesthetic and cultural value, then you need to narrow down on one of these choices. Located on the East Coast Road, both the places have a beautiful ambience and are perfect for all those inclined towards art. DakshinaChitra is a museum that has replicas of traditional houses and way of living from the Southern states. In addition, they have a whole lot of artistes displaying their ware. The place also hosts numerous art workshops and festivals from time to time. Cholamandal Artists Village is where Asia’s largest artist community thrives. It has a lush green campus and regular art exhibits. It also has a very leisurely feel to it.

Enjoy a lesson in surfing by qualified instructors together and in the process get to know each other better. Founded in 1875, Theosophical Society is a nature-lovers’ paradise. It is replete with trees and lush green surroundings. One can easily spend some quiet time in the shade of the giant trees and stay away from prying eyes. The entry to the place is free. The only catch is Theosophical Society is open for limited hours in a day. So check out th timings and venture out.
Muttukadu Lake
You can enjoy a boat ride with your date at the serene Muttukadu Lake. The lake is large and there is enough space for the boat to ride to different corners. If not hills, you might spot few buildings in the backdrop but riding under the over-bridge is quite an experience. You can choose from the different type of boats (pedal boat, row boat and speed boat) that are available at the boathouse. The boathouse, with a special roof made of bamboo, has a lounge, from where visitors can watch the boats and a restaurant. It also offers options of wind surfing and water skiing.
St. Thomas Mount
If heart-to heart conversations and a good view of the city prior to a great lunch or dinner then you should give St. Thomas Mount a shot. It is a small hillock located near the neighbourhood of Guindy and very close to Chennai International Airport. It has a church on top and if you intend to burn some calories before your meal, then just climb up the stairs. Once you reach up, you will get a spectacular view of the city from the top and can watch the beautiful sunset together. Sounds pretty romantic!
Arignar Anna Zoological Park
If you share a love for animals with your date, then just try going to the Anna Zoological Park or Vandalur Zoo. You will have plenty of space to walk around the zoo or you can hire rickety bicycles to check out the vast zoo. Ignore the rather poor facilities (read clean toilets and lack of proper restaurants), it’s a great place to talk, see animals and get to know someone. And after spending a few hours, you can then move out and try one of the eateries located in the vicinity.
