The Centre for Sports Science in Sri Ramachandra Medical College (SRMC) in Porur added a feather in its cap. It is teaming up with Gagan Narang’s Gun for Glory (GFG) shooting academy and setting up a state-of-art shooting academy in namma Chennai.
In November 2017, Project Leap, an ambitious plan of the Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation (GNSPF) had conducted an 11-day shooting camp at the SRMC campus. Super-impressed by the facilities there, GFG decided to set up their maiden venture in Tamil Nadu at the campus. The aim of this academy is to spot the best shooting talents, train and nurture them here.The vision is to bring Olympic medals for India in shooting using expertise of Gagan Narang’s shooting academy combined with cutting edge sports science backbone of CSS.
The facility was inaugurated on May 23 by P Balakrishna Reddy, Minister for Youth Welfare & Sports Development, Govt. of Tamil Nadu in the presence of young shooting prodigy Elavenil Valarivan and ISSF Junior World Cup Gold medalists.
The GFG has been successfully running academies in Mumbai, Pune, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Jabalpur, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad and Gurgaon.
