You need not go to an exotic location in Europe or USA to experience the thrill of being a part of a fun hot air balloon festival. All you need to do is pack your bags and head to Pollachi. You heard it right! This beautiful town hosts a hot balloon festival that attracts tourists from across the globe. This year third edition of Tamil Nadu International Balloon festival is being organised by the Global Media Box with the support of Department of Tourism Tamil Nadu.
This time they are having more number of balloons in different shapes just like most of the international festivals around the world. The reason why this is special is, because it adds more meaning to the importance of being an international event. The number of participants and balloons from foreign countries are going to see a high raise and every single event is fuelled up with thrill.
The event will feature eight hot air balloons from six Nations – Hank Funk from Switzerland, Shane Robison and Jay McCormack from USA, Gills and Ervin from France, Geert from Belgium, Craig from Australia, Tryntsje Offringa from Netherlands and Josh from India.
During the evenings, the balloons will be lit up and they will be synchronised with music playing in the background. Adding to the party there are music concerts so you get to see world-class entertainment. Following this, are other cultural shows as well. For kids they have colouring contests and everyone shall be treated to mouth-watering delicacies at the accompanying food festival.
On January 14 and 15, there will be a special balloon show with kalari and dance performances by Isha Yoga and a drums show by Emil Jebasing.
