The Phoenix MarketCity complex has been busy adding more jewels in its already star-lit premises. After the launch of the plush Palladium and its myriad swanky stores, the complex now boasts of a great lounge bar, where you can grab a drink or two with friends over some delicious grub. Wire Room, located within the Design Hotel, is the latest drinking place in town and its USP is how it evokes the spirit of Madras through its cocktails and food.
Well, as you enter the bar, the first thing that catches your attention is a criss-cross of wires that is spread overhead. Absolutely, justifies the unique name of the place. The criss-cross pattern somehow bears resemblance to the world-famous Madras checks. We are told that about 20 kms of wire has been spun inside the bar. We also notice thousands of bobs hanging from the ceiling. A special mention to an art work by artist Ivan Nabarro with wood and mirror. This fantastic artwork creates an illusion of a thousand pillars within the premises. The red ceiling also creates a drastic impact.
Moving on to the most important aspect – the food and drinks. Wire Room has cocktails inspired by local ingredients – nannari, paneer soda, inji marappa, curry leaves and so on. Their Magizachi Cocktail dedicated to Superstar Rajinikanth has already become a rage among revelers. It has Bombay sapphire, Dry Martini, Lime juice, Ginger and Karupatti syrup and a touch of Cinnamon dust to finish. We also loved their signature rum-based cocktail, R&G, prepared with south Indian coffee and ginger ale. If you love some theatre in life, do order their tequila-based cocktail, Tikki takes a tuk-tuk. We guarantee you will have fun.
The food consists of a curated international menu. It has Italian, Continental, Asian, Mediterranean, Mexican and Indian. They have something for everybody – from kebabs, briryanis, seafood to pasta, pizza and salads. You surely will be spoilt for choice. The place also serves an array of dessert options as well.
One more to add on to your long list of must-visit places in town!
